Versatile Veneers: The Perfect Coverup for Common Smile Flaws

Versatile Veneers: The Perfect Coverup for Common Smile Flaws

Your smile says a lot about you, and an engaging smile can warm people to you without you ever having to say a word. But if you don’t feel confident in your teeth, you might miss out on this opportunity to connect with others around you.

Fortunately, you’re not stuck with the way your teeth look. Dr. Sujay Trivedi, Dr. Michael Westcott, and our team offer smile makeovers specifically to help folks who are unhappy with one or more cosmetic dental flaws. Whether you’ve got a large gap, a cracked or dead tooth, or another problem, we can help you fix it at Family Dental Care in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In many cases, we can help patients meet all their smile goals with veneers.

What veneers can do

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that we bond to the front of your tooth. Once the veneer is cemented in place, people see that — not the problem tooth underneath. As a result, veneers give you a way to cover a wide range of smile flaws. We commonly use them to help people conceal:

We can apply the veneer to only one tooth if just one is bothering you. In that case, we color-match the veneer to the adjacent teeth so it blends seamlessly with your smile.

That said, some patients opt to get a full set of veneers for a flawless smile. If you choose to go this route, we can select veneers that are brighter than your natural teeth, giving you a whiter smile while also beautifying the shape of your teeth.

How veneers work

Getting veneers is a relatively straightforward process. First, we prepare the tooth to get the veneer. That means removing just enough of the front surface of the tooth that the veneer lays flush with your neighboring teeth. We then take a mold of the prepared tooth, and use it to precisely create your veneer.

You go home with temporary veneers while we make your custom veneers so that they fit and color-match your smile. This process usually takes a couple of weeks. We make your veneers from porcelain because this material resists stains well, plus it mirrors the shine of your natural teeth.

Once your veneers are ready, you return to our office and we bond them in place on the fronts of your prepared teeth. We check your bite to make sure the veneer feels comfortable in your mouth. From that point on, you can head back into the world confident in your newly beautified smile.
